What are Readers? - According to Dale's Law of the English Church "The incumbent (equals the Rector in our case) may have the assistance of deacons, licensed lay workers, readers and other lay persons in the performance of the services" Amongst other things they "may be authorised to say or sing morning or evening prayer...., to distribute the sacrament and read the epistle and gospel at holy communion, to preach, perform the burial service with the goodwill of the persons responsible, and to publish banns of marriage."

So! they don't just read
