FOOTBALL TEAM

Welwyn St Mary’s C of E Football club was formed in 1997 from church members and the remnants of the disbanded local Welwyn village side.

In 2002 the club joined the East Herts and West Essex Church League (EHWECL), winning back-to-back league titles in 2002-3 and 2003-4. In 2008 the club reached the National Christian Cup Final having played matches in Manchester & Cheltenham before losing the final at Nene Park stadium in Northamptonshire. In 2009 the EHWECL merged into the newly formed Hertfordshire and Borders Church League (HBCL).

Today the HBCL is fully FA affiliated, with two divisions and a cup competition on Saturday mornings, with clubs also competing in various FA chartered cup competitions on Saturday afternoons.

Our success continued, in 2017 our Red Team won the League & Cup double and the Blue Team came third; congratulations to all concerned.

Our home pitch is at Welwyn Playing Fields and training takes place once a week throughout the season.

We always welcome anyone who would like to join the club or assist in any way.
