CHRISTMAS

Christmas is a time for families, presents, celebration and Jesus.  We welcome the Christ child with joy.  We celebrate the amazing fact that God sent his son to be born in a stable for us.

Preparations for Christmas begin in Advent, and our celebration of Christmas goes on through the twelve days of Christmas to Epiphany and Candlemas.

Stevenage Food Bank

The Hub organised a collection in church  of luxury Christmas food and these were delivered to SFB on 17th December for those families who would otherwise go without the lovely things many of us take for granted.  Click the Charities page for more details and picture

This year, all proceeds from collections at St Mary’s Christmas Services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are going to Herts Young Homeless (hyh).

Imagine you are 16 or 17 and through family breakdown find yourself threatened with being left out on the street at night this winter. Where would you turn?

Here in Hertfordshire thousands of young people face homelessness and half of our young homeless people are 16 or 17 year olds.

This is where hyh services step in; they help 16-24 year olds who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

How could your Christmas donation help?

  • £5 pays for a travel warrant for a young person

  • £10 tops up a phone card for a young person to keep in touch with their support worker

  • £15 provides a food parcel for a week

  • £25 covers one night's stay in crashpad accommodation

  • £50 pays for a starter pack when moving into accommodation for the first time.

Herts Young Homeless needs to raise £300 every day to support young people in Hertfordshire. Please be generous this Christmas.
